Word Studies

Slow Down. Follow the Word Through Scripture.

How We Will Study

A Hebrew or Greek word is not a theological vending machine. A dictionary entry can show a range of possible meanings, but it cannot decide which meaning belongs in a particular sentence, paragraph, or book.

Word Studies will identify the word, observe its possible semantic range, trace its actual biblical usage, notice the author and surrounding context, and compare occurrences before reaching a conclusion. Strong’s numbers can help us locate words; they cannot do the interpreting for us.

The goal is patient, contextual reading: let Scripture show how the word is being used, then test the claims we have heard against that evidence.

Keep the Evidence in Front of You.

The Study Companion will help you track occurrences, surrounding context, observations, semantic range, competing claims, and your final interpretation in one place.
